Weather Report: Met Office Archive summary date 10.09.02., taken from hourly weather reports made at RAF Witchford.
Ely area Weather 26th February 1944: "The 26th was an overcast, misty day with drizzle at times. It would have felt rather cold in the light NNW wind. The maximum temperature at Mildenhall was 42F (6C)."

Race Report: Cambridge had to make a late change at six, **D.H. Paul's place being taken by J.H. Garson. Cambridge led at the start and got a third of a length advantage, which they held for some distance, but as they approached Day's farmhouse Oxford began to draw up and then another spurt put them in front. Nearing the finish, Cambridge tried to spurt, but Oxford responded so that the Light Blues never looked like getting on terms again.

Post Race Dinner: Three separate venues have been indicated by various members of the 1944 Cambridge Crew, including The Lamb Hotel, Ely; Trinity Hall, Cambridge and The University Arms, Cambridge. John Scott reports he has a copy of the menu in his loft, with comments from each member of both crews written on it. Donald Ramsey & Ben Cochrane are both certain it was held at The University Arms.
